Spicy Shrimp with Tomato Cream Pasta is the perfect comfort food for warmer months because it’s hearty and completely satisfying without being overly rich and heavy. This spicy shrimp pasta has an ideal combination of flavors from hot and spicy to tangy and creamy – everything you crave in an Italian dish – creamy tomato sauce, seafood, spices (garlic, paprika, basil, oregano, crushed red pepper). It also has a nice balance of contrasting textures from the firm shrimp to the soft pasta. We use smooth ziti for this pasta dish as it holds the sauce very well, but penne is also a good choice.
- 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 small sweet onion, chopped
- 1 jar Pasta Jay’s Creamy Tomato Sauce
- 1 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 12 oz ziti pasta, cooked according to package instructions
Step 1: Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large pan. Add shrimp and cook about 2 minute or until completely pink. While it’s cooking, sprinkle the top of shrimp with crushed red pepper, paprika and salt to cover every single shrimp.
Step 2: Using spatula, turn shrimp over to the other side and cook for about 2 more minutes. Remove shrimp from pan and set aside.
Step 3: In same pan cook onion over medium high heat for 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
Step 4: Add Pasta Jay’s Cream Tomato sauce, bring to boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes to meld the flavors.
Step 5: In the mean time, bring a large pot of water to boil and cook pasta al dente according to the package instructions. Drain. Return shrimp to pan and stir in pasta. Reheat on low simmer, if needed
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!
